About The Sustainable Economist

Welcome to The Sustainable Economist! My name is Tim Nash. Two days a week, I'm a part-time economics instructor at Sheridan College in Mississauga, Canada. The rest of the time, I'm a fee-only financial planner that teaches ordinary people how to invest their own money online in sustainable investment funds.

As an expert on socially responsible investing, impact investing, and the green economy, I've been regularly featured in publications such as Reuters, Advisor’s Edge ReportMoneySense, and The Exchange with Amanda Lang (video above). I earned my BA in Economics from Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada) and my Master's in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability from the Blekinge Institute of Technology (Karlskrona, Sweden). I'm currently treasurer of the Ontario Nonprofit Network and the lead researcher for Ethical Market’s Green Transition Scoreboard® research report, which details more than $6.22 trillion of private investments in the global green economy.

This website is my little corner of the internet where I can geek out on topics close to my heart. If you want to get in touch with me for any reason, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Cheers to a Sustainable Economy!

The right finance and investment structures can help Canada transition to a low carbon economy. In early 2018, the Government of Canada set up an Expert Panel on Sustainable Finance and now they want to hear your views on how private sector financing can help Canada transition to a low-carbon economy.

Read the interim report: http://www.canada.ca/sustainable-finance.

Submit your ideas by email ec.mediassociauxsocialmedia.ec@canada.ca before Jan. 31.

It’s quiet good i have seen several of the people who are looking to make a small investment in anything from where they can get good return but most of them failed cause they have no idea that where they should make an investment. I am working as a radiology tech in private and also looking to make some investment i guess your expertise are helping allot in that context.

I have been to see 3 different financial advisors looking for those willing to work towards building a ethical investment portfolio. All of whom looked at me like I am crazy, and knew nothing about ethical or SRI funds. Way to go, so glad to find your site!
